We took a look at this device this summer as it was announced. The Brain Sensing Headband uses EEG technology, real-time data analysis and sound waves to help you choose, set, and complete a meditation practice.
According to the press release, the Headband detects brain waves, which are potential indicators of an activity state. EEG is an electroencephalography (EEG) method that involves detecting electrical activity of the brain using specialized sensors, usually placed on the scalp.
The Headband is designed to help users determine an optimal state of "mindfulness" and learn to recognize the state of calm they are in. Your age, experience, methods, and goals may determine what "calm" is to you. The app will use this data to "guide" you to it, making your journey there easier.
Held in your hand, you use the Headband to place it on your forehead and around your neck. The Headband communicates with the app via Bluetooth, which is available for iPhone and Android phones. The app is free.
